The mental health of children and adolescents has emerged as a critical global concern, particularly in China, where intense academic competition and societal pressures can lead to heightened levels of stress and anxiety. Recent research has shed light on the roles of sport commitment and resilience in mediating the relationship between life satisfaction and social anxiety among primary school students in China.
The study highlights that children who are actively engaged in sports tend to exhibit higher levels of resilience, which in turn positively influences their overall life satisfaction. This engagement in sports provides not only physical benefits but also fosters a sense of community and belonging, essential for emotional well-being. Conversely, students with low sport commitment may experience increased social anxiety, which can adversely affect their mental health and academic performance.
As educators and parents seek effective strategies to support children’s mental health, promoting sports participation could be a valuable approach. Encouraging students to engage in physical activities may help mitigate social anxiety and enhance life satisfaction, ultimately contributing to better mental health outcomes.
