Temper City Drop New Single "Reverse Psychology," Set for ACL Fest

Austin-based alt-rock trio Temper City has dropped their latest single, "Reverse Psychology," out now through Thirty Knots/Interscope Records. The song arrives on the heels of their breakout hit, which topped multiple alternative radio charts earlier this year and helped the band build serious momentum heading into festival season.

"Reverse Psychology" keeps the group's signature blend of gritty guitars and tight, driving rhythms, but leans into a more playful, almost teasing energy. The track opens with a clean, looping riff before frontman Cole Vance's vocals slide in with a half-smirk delivery. The chorus hits with a shout-along hook that feels built for a late-night set under the lights. Lyrically, it plays with the push and pull of a relationship where neither side wants to admit they care more, a theme that should resonate with anyone who has ever played it cool and regretted it.

The band recorded the song with producer Caleb Stevens, who also worked on their previous EP. The result is a crisp, punchy mix that highlights their live chemistry without losing the raw edges that first got them noticed in the East Austin DIY scene.

Fans will get a chance to hear the new material in person soon. Temper City is confirmed for the 2025 Austin City Limits Music Festival, set for two weekends in October at Zilker Park. It is a homecoming of sorts for the group, who have spent most of the year on the road opening for larger acts across the Southwest. They have also lined up a few intimate club dates in Texas leading up to the festival, with tickets moving fast.
